Welcome to the companion CD-ROM for
Web Developer's Guide to Sound & Music.
Many of the programs on this disk are
available on the Web, but we supplied
this disk to get you started with some
basic fundamental tools and also supply
you with some neat sounds, images, and
clips to use in your own Web site!
Directory: Contents:
----------------------------------------------
CLIPS Sample audio clips in several
different formats and sound files
used as demos in the book.
MACTOOLS Macintosh utilities to aid in
creating music & clips
PCTOOLS Windows utilities to aid in
creating music & clips
Almost all of these programs are
still under construction in some
form or another, so it's always good
to look for upgrades and new releases.
We tried to give you a choice with some
of the helper programs, so that you could
try out different programs and find out
for yourself, which ones work best.
The applications in the \SOFTWARE directory
are shareware, so it is up to you to make
sure that the authors of the program are
compensated if you decide to use their
program on an on going basis. Once again,
check the documentation files that are
related to the application you are using
to find out what the restrictions and
regulations are.
Finally, if you find software on this CD
that is useful to you, you may want to
check and see if there is a newer version
available. Many times, the authors of these
programs will include e-mail and Web site
addresses in the readme or help files. If
you have trouble finding any information
that way, here is a condensed list of some
of the best places to look on the Internet
for useful applications:
